Ааааа, это было круто. Даже не так: это было КРУТО! Голос сорван, ноги оттоптаны, но оно того стоило. Это шоу надо видеть живьем (естественно тру — это танцпол перед сценой в передних рядах): чувствовать сколько–то там децибел внутри себя, чувствовать жар от горелок на лице.

Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks, a popular traditional group specializing in early 20th–century jazz (and winners of a 2012 Grammy award for their work on the soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire) will bring listeners back to the 1920s and 1930s. In the second half of the show, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra performs, led by pianist Toshiko Akiyoshi, who is influenced by the sounds of her native Japan and big band leaders before her. Anchored by saxophonist Lew Tabackin and Japanese taiko drummer Eitetsu Hayashi, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra will perform Akiyoshi’s award–winning compositions.

New York Grand Opera will stage two free Puccini performances in Central Park’s Naumburg Bandshell (located south of Bethesda Terrace near 72nd Street). “Tosca” is slated for June 27 and “Madama Butterfly” is set for July 18. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Three Sunday “nostalgia rides” are planned for this summer. On July 1, the Transit Museum’s Lo–V vintage trains will take passengers to a trip to Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. On July 29, the old R1/9 cars from the Independent Subway System will trek to Coney Island. And on Aug. 12, the R1/9 cars will head to Rockaway Park, where riders will transfer to vintage buses to Gateway National Park.
On movie nights, DJs from Brooklyn Radio will spin music from 6 p.m., followed by a short film selected by BAMcinématek. The feature films begin at sunset.
This summer’s free Tuesday night movies from Red Hook Flicks promises a season of “Scary Monsters and Super Freaks.”

Red Bull Arena is hosting two international match–ups as well: RBNY and Tottenham Hotspur square off in a friendly on July 31st, while the Trophee Des Champions — a battle for the French Super Cup between Montpellier and Lyon — will be held on July 28th.
The free Good Morning America Summer Concert Series begins Friday in Central Park with an early–morning performance by Robin Thicke and Ellie Goulding. The free concert series will continue every Friday through April 17 at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield. Mary J. Blige, the Beach Boys, No Doubt and Demi Lovato are among the performers scheduled to play during the summer series. All concerts are free and open to the public and air on “Good Morning America” Fridays between 7 and 9 a.m. The park opens at 6 a.m., with the 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue the closest option to Rumsey Playfield.
Gloria Gaynor, The Village People, Squeeze, Joan Jett, Gladys Knight, The Commodores, Public Enemy, Salt–n–Pepa, Bobby Brown and Cissy Houston are among the performers lined up for this summer’s Brooklyn free concerts. The concerts will take place at two venues, in Coney Island and Crown Heights, from July 12 through Aug. 20. All shows begins at 7:30 p.m.

Про шапито–шоу много было написано… собственно, я уже его видел но снова обязательно пойду. Как по мне — достаточно своеобразное кино, много символизма, гротеска и пересекающихся сюжетных линий но при этом веселое и озорное.

А кто–нибудь здесь занимается организацией концертов русских музыкантов в Америке?
Мне вот что интересно: когда нормальные музыканты начнут приезжать в Чикаго? Или у нас недостаточно русских и это просто невыгодно?
Фанера в сша не кошерно, как мне кажется. Этим объясняется часть музыкантов. Вторая часть — деньги. Slava's snow show в НЙ стоил дешевле, чем в Москве. Мать в провинции ходит на концерты приезжих музыкантов. Далеко не А лист, а билеты в 3000р обычное дело…
Если фанера не кошерно, то непонятно, что тут забыла Орбакайте и, например, группа Серебро…Я так понимаю, выгоднее ехать в Нью–Йорк и Сан–Франциско, а к нам, видимо, совсем не выгодно.
Из здешних не знаю, но я знаю пару людей которые в НЙ в организации концертов довольно плотно участвуют. В Чикаго чаще Украина приезжает насколько я знаю, что вполне закономерно, учитывая насколько больше там украинская диаспора.
